GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT

In 2009, we have decided to add a number of new events to our schedule.  My Muddy Valentine is the first of those events on the calendar.  Besides being the first new event we have added in a couple of years, it is also our first attempt at a trail run!

What can you expect from this event?  Well, as the name implies, it is a Valentines day trail run for couples and singles!  The race will take place on the well traveled trails of Forest Park during one of the rainiest parts of the year.  The fact that they are well traveled and it will more than likely have rained for like 2 months straight leading up to the event, the trails should be nice and sloppy!  We aren’t trying to deter you from entering the event by telling you this, we are encouraging you to come and embrace it, get wet, muddy, meet new people and have a blast!

There will be prizes for fastest individual, fastest couple, muddiest individual, muddiest couple and more!  As with every Terrapin Events race, expect great beer, tasty food and live music at the end of the event.  All included in the registration cost!

Bring everyone for this fun, family-friendly event!

ABOUT THE KIDS EVENT:
The kids’ race is a non-timed 1/2 mile event for children of all ages. The cost for this event is free without a t-shirt.  Parents are welcomed and encouraged to run or walk with their kids.  There is also no cost for parents to run with kids.

START TIMES:
Plan on coming to the event early enough to get everything in your individual ritual done.  All events will start on time.

  • 10K walkers 16 min. pace or slower at 8:40am.
  • 10K walkers up to 16 min pace at 9:00am.
  • 3.5 mile walkers (ALL) at 9:40am.

DAY OF RACE:  AT THE EVENT: Staring at 7:30am
We strongly recommend you attend the in-store packet pick-up.  Lines on the morning of the event are long and slow.

LIVE MUSIC:
There will be a live music at the after race party.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE:
All participants receive a tasty beverage as part of their registration fee.  Each participant will also receive some very yummy food and other great treats as part of their registration.  And of course, since it is an athletic event above all else, water is available at the start / finish.

AFTER RACE PARTY:
The after race party is free for all to attend. However, only participants will receive the goodies FREE at the party.

CLOTHING CHECK-IN AT THE EVENT:
We offer a clothing check for most of our events.  Like our other efforts to become more sustainable, we are using re-usable shopping bags donated to us.  Your bib # will match up with the numbers we have printed on the bag.  To protect your belongings, only the person wearing the bib with the matching # will be allowed to retrieve the belongings in the bag.  In order to assist us in our efforts to become sustainable and keep costs low, please be sure to return the bag after the event.

DOGS / PETS IN THE EVENT:
No Dogs or Pets are allowed in this event.  However, service dogs are permitted.  If you would like enter an event with your pup, check out the Mt. Tabor Doggie Challenge.

JOGGING STROLLERS IN THE EVENT:
Due to the nature of this event and the ruggedness of the trail, we ask that no jogging strollers be used during this event.  All other Terrapin Events races are jogger friendly!

IPOD’S / MP3 PLAYERS /WALKMAN’S:
With the exception of this event, all of our events are music player friendly.  With the nature of this event and the trails being so narrow and difficult to pass, we ask that you please respect our request and leave your music players at home.  There will be plenty of peaceful sounds on the train to enjoy and great music at the end!

HOW TO GET THERE / PARKING / TRANSPORTATION:
As always with an event like this, parking is VERY limited.  PLEASE CARPOOL or take Public transportation!!!  Please go to TriMet.org to find out the best Public transportation routes. You can go to our “How to be Green” page to find links to Portland Bike routes.  You can go to the Forum page to talk with others about offering / getting a ride to the event.

RACE TIMING / RESULTS:
This event is timed using conventional tear tag method of timing.  In order to insure proper results, please make sure your name is printed clearly and correctly on your bib, or please make sure the label we place on your bib has your correct info.  If not please tell us prior to the event.

As you finish and go through the finish chute, please keep moving and please stay in the order you finished (this is how we keep track of your place).  Even though the results come out a little slower this way, we are still pretty darn good and should have them posted at the event.  You can find them online within 2-3 days after the event at TerrapinEvents.com
