Course Map and description / Start location / Site plan

The Half Marathon / 10k begin and end a near the World Trade Center on SW 1st and SW Taylor in Downtown Portland. The 5k starts on Front Ave. just South of Salmon St. (very close to the others) and finishes with the other events on SW 1st and Taylor.

PLEASE carpool, ride a bike or take Public transportation! The MAX stops half a block from the start / finish. Please go to TriMet.org to find out the best Public transportation routes. You can go to our Help Us Be Green page to find links to Portland Bike routes.

CINCO DE MAYO HALF MARATHON:

After starting off with mostly flat terrain for the first five miles, the course begins to gradually climb as participants run along beautiful tree lined Barbur Blvd toTerwilliger Blvd.

Once on Terwilliger the course climbs, flattens and then climbs again as participants run the beautiful and paved Terwilliger path along the Western edge of George Himes park up to the Chart house. From the Chart house the course begins to roll downhill along Terwilliger and Duniway parks to Sheridan St. (participants stay on the path until this point)

The course finishes with nearly 2 miles of flat and gradual downhill to the finish at Taylor near the World trade center. Live music, food and beer await you at the finish!

Here are the half marathon water station details:

Water station one at mile 3: This is on Naito Pkwy, in the Northbound lanes, roughly half way between 15th Ave and 9th Ave. There are toilets / energy drink / water / energy bars / live music at this stop.

Water station two at mile 5.3: This is on Naito Pkwy, in the Southbound lanes. It is right after you make the switch from running in the NB lanes to the SB lanes. It is on the large triangular median at Sheridan st. There are toilets / energy drink / water / energy bars / live music at this stop.

Water station three at mile 7.25: This is on Barbur Blvd, in the SB lanes at the ramp to Capitol Hwy. There are toilets / energy drink / water / energy bars / drumline at this stop.

Water station four at mile 9.25: This is on Terwilliger path at the Chart house There are toilets / energy drink / water / DJ at this stop.

Water station five at mile 11.15: This is on Terwilliger path at the last turnout before Sam Jackson PKWY. There are toilets / energy drink / water / live music at this stop.

CINCO DE MAYO 10K:

The 10k also begins on SW Taylor St near SW 1st Ave. This course is flat as a pancake! From the start the course heads North along Front Ave and through portions of the Pearl district. The course then zigs and zags through the NW industrial area back out to Front where it does a short out and back to the North and finishes along Front St at Taylor. There are water stations at miles 2.8 and 4.6. The water station at mile 4.6 is the same as water station one for the half marathon.

This event starts on Front St. between SW Salmon St. and the Hawthorne bridge. It starts in the NB lanes with participants facing South.
All participants head South in the NB lanes to Sheridan, where they will cross over into the SB lanes until the gap in the Frontage road (there will be volunteers directing you). After a slight uphill jog through the neighborhood up to 4th, participants meet up with the half marathoners at Caruthers and follow the course back to the finish on SW Taylor near 1st Ave.
